As a psychological therapy practitioner I have a responsibility and an on-going commitment in my practice, to provide the highest quality therapy in my work with others. This involves an intention to embody the essential elements of present moment awareness which includes the mind, body and breathing.
In psychological therapy it is not the case that “one size fits all”. Human beings are uniquely different in the ways in which we experience the world. It is for this reason that the approach or method must fit the person as a whole and not the other way around. It remains evident that any approach taken can only go so far as the practitioner is grounded in themselves, the present moment and the method itself.
These are intrinsic and inseparable elements of all therapy and to which I pay close attention and give equal value and emphases in my work with others.
Psychotherapy Assessment entails working together to find the most suitable approach to take, and to evaluate what progress can be expected from therapy, given the person’s difficulties.
This brings with it an obligation for me to recommend a different treatment approach if necessary, and refer on to a psychotherapy practitioner with more suitable skills and training.
